Suzanne Budgett

My first big achievement was being awarded the silver medal at the Tour of Tameside and that was presented by legendary Ron Hill. I remember being totally over-awed.

Since then I’ve had county vests for Lancashire and Greater Manchester on the fells and in cross country.

In 2002 I gained selection & represented England at the WMRA (World Mountain Running Association) in Austria and did the same in 2003 for the WMRA in Germany. I remember the first time standing on the start line in Austria with an England vest on and it was like a dream!

Here Suzanne talks about how she felt at the start line in Austria…

I’ve got really fond and happy memories of the YMCA, it makes me smile when I think about it.
